Alex Chahri

Swim Wild Academy Assistant Teacher

I am originally from France and I have recently started living in Penryn to study Conservation Biology and Ecology.

Swimming has been a part of my life for a long time, I joined a Dutch competitive swim club as soon as I had finished swimming lessons aged 6.  Living in the Netherlands, you are surrounded by water so teaching children to swim young is considered normal. My teaching career began at this club where I volunteered for 2 years leading my own class of younger swimmers. I competed at the regional level and stopped competitive swimming after moving to the UK at 17.

In the UK I passed my NPLQ and worked as a lifeguard. I recently passed my Swim England Level 1 and I hope to pass my Level 2 in easter so I can teach my own classes again! I am looking forward to showing students how swimming is all about being as lazy as possible. This means improving technique so you can put in a minimum of effort and still swim far and fast! I plan to do this in a fun and comfortable environment where swimmers can gain confidence and enjoy being in the water. See you soon!
